Singapore, December 2009 – As the tumultuous year draws to a close, Museum Shop by Banyan Tree launches an innovative lifestyle collection inspired by the majestic tiger to welcome the Lunar New Year in 2010. An emblem of courage and steadfastness, the tiger’s image is carefully crafted using a creative juxtaposition of multiple “虎” characters, where “虎” is the Chinese script for “tiger”. This ingenious artwork is featured across a range of affordably priced apparel and accessories, creating three distinct selections – Tibetan Tigers, Red 虎 (Banyan Tree), and Orange 虎 (Angsana).
Through its role as a socially responsible tourism retailer, Museum Shop by Banyan Tree hopes to also raise awareness for the tiger, which was declared an endangered species in 1969, and is now one of the world’s fastest disappearing species. Today, there are less than 2,500 wild tigers left, primarily due to the loss of habitat and poaching.
Recently recognized as the Best Shopping Experiencein the inaugural 2009 Singapore Experience Awards,Museum Shop by Banyan Tree is proud to support the global effort to conserve these magnificent creatures by donating part of the proceeds from this collection to the Wildlife Reserves Singapore Conservation Fund (WRSCF). Officially launched on 10 July 2009, WRSCF is dedicated to wildlife conservation and education, focusing on native animal conservation efforts and the issue of climate change.
