SINGAPORE, October 2009 - SpaFinder, Inc., the global spa resource, has announced that Willow Stream Spa at the Fairmont Singapore has been named Favourite Spa in Singapore, as part of its seventh-annual SpaFinder Readers’ Choice Awards. With a record 360,000 votes cast worldwide by readers of SpaFinder publications (including Spafinder.com), the awards programme represents the most complete, real-world consumer assessment of the global spa market. Willow Stream Spa’s Zheng Yilin has also been selected in the Top Ten Spas in Favourite Spa Professional category.
“This honour is another outstanding laurel in Willow Stream Spa’s growing list of accolades and a testament to the Fairmont Singapore’s commitment towards providing our guests not only the most luxurious and rewarding pampering experiences, but also magnifies our mission of turning moments into wonderful memories for them. My heartiest congratulations to the Willow Stream Spa team especially to Zheng Yilin and all our colleagues for being fantastic ambassadors of the hotel,” commented Mr Ian Wilson, General Manager of Fairmont Singapore and Regional Vice-President - Asia, Fairmont Hotels & Resorts.
“Now in its seventh year, our Readers’ Choice Awards are without question the global spa industry’s premier award programme - our industry’s answer to the Academy Awards,” said SpaFinder Inc. President, Susie Ellis. “And now that there are roughly 15,000 resort, hotel and destination spas operating worldwide, for Willow Stream Spa to be singled out by our readers represents an extraordinary honour.”
A Global Spa Market…And Consumer
Reflecting the rapid globalization of the spa industry, SpaFinder readers and web visitors selected their favourite spas globally - from traditional spa destinations like Thailand and the Caribbean, to emerging markets in Asia or South America. More countries / regions were included in 2009 than ever before, including awards for favourite spa in Argentina, Australia, Scandinavia, Spain, and both Mainland China and Hong Kong. Voters were asked to only cast ballots for spas they have personally visited within the past three years.
Readers and web visitors also selected their favourite overall spa on each of six continents - as well as their top picks for the best spas across a wide range of specific categories, such as “Best for Accommodations,” “Best Cuisine,” or “Best for Men,” etc.
